Core Duties and Responsibilities

Identifying the environmental impact of a product, system, or project comes first, working out how to cut the impact of industrial production second. The check on any fix belongs between them: whether a proposed change to a complex system improves environmental performance without causing something worse elsewhere. Sustainability assessments run on material flow analysis or substance flow analysis, and the findings become technical and impact reports written for industry, government, or the public. Measurement fills the rest, tracking materials and energy at plant, regional, and global scale.
