These positions will be located at a USDA Forest Service Unit. This position is established on a Forest Service unit, to serve as a first line supervisor on an Interagency Hotshot Crew. The primary responsibility is for leadership of highly effective wildland fire suppression and wildland urban interface/intermix situations. See ADDITIONAL INFORMATION for Regional contacts.
- Duties listed are at full performance grade GW-08 level.
- Coordinates the activities of a unit or team of firefighters in wildland fire suppression situations.
- Plans and implements field projects: this includes setting priorities, identifying objectives, coordinating resources, obtaining vehicles, supplies and equipment, developing job hazard analysis, and conducting job skill training.
- Independently or jointly develops training programs (mandatory, formal and informal) to comply with policy and regulations.
- Works with other resource managers in the development and implementation of prescribed burn plans.
