You will serve as a Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist with the National Park Service for Lake Mead National Recreation Area The Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist position is responsible for performing difficult complex environmental protection assignments in one or more of the following general areas: Rulemaking and Regulation, Compliance and Enforcement, Environmental Considerations and Documentation, or Program Administration and Oversight

  • At the full performance level (GS-12) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Serves as the Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist for Lake Mead National Recreation Area and subsidiary park units and establishes and fosters effective partnerships through the environmental planning and compliance process. Ensures appropriate application of the laws, regulations, and policies related to the protection and management of Tribal, natural, cultural, and Wilderness resources through the development of comprehensive environmental protection policies and programs including National Environmental Protection Act, National Historic Preservation Act, and the Endangered Species Act. Prepares a variety of written documents including compliance documents (EIS, EA, CE, DNA), minimum requirement analyses and proposals related to Wilderness and environmental protection program issues. Communicate with Park staff, management, and the public concerning a variety of environmental protection policies and processes. Ensures effective use of the National Park Service's Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) site. Ensures the PEPC site includes all documentation supporting the decision for each action carried out in the Park
