You will serve as a Biological Science Technician (Wildlife) (Seasonal) GS-05 working in one of the following locations: Commerce City CO - Colorado Front Range National Wildlife Refuge Complex Jackson WY - National Elk Refuge Open to the first 150 applicants. • As a Seasonal - Biological Science Technician (Wildlife) your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Assists with outdoor projects such as trail maintenance. Uses established automated databases to enter, organize and perform preliminary analysis of collected data, using standard statistical methods in preparation of reports. Enters and retrieves data from geographic information systems (GIS) and/or other information management systems. Assists biologists in studying and preparing reports on effects to ecosystems from development proposals of local, state, and Federal government organizations. Participates in multifaceted wildlife studies, including carrying out a variety of research and survey methods, analyzing established data, and monitoring environmental elements related to conservation, management, and/or control of wildlife. Assists with performing biological studies for determining the manner and extent to which wildlife populations are affected by management activities. Prepares segments of recurring reports such as monthly activities and progress reports on individual projects. Collects biological samples ensuring correct documentation, reporting, storage, transport and delivery of samples taken. Uses field equipment including cameras, GPS equipment, binoculars, rangefinders and computers. Use of hand and power tools and equipment. Loads and unloads materials and equipment.
