This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serve as an Environmental Protection Specialist with the Directorate of Public Works at Fort Riley, KS.
- Develops and implements installation waste minimization programs in accordance with environmental laws and regulations.
- Monitors changes in hazardous and toxic materials requirements and updates installation pollution prevention plans and procedures.
- Researches hazardous materials to determine chemical and physical properties, identifies less-toxic substitutes, and evaluates waste minimization opportunities.
- Prepares and maintains hazardous waste tracking databases and compiles required environmental reporting data.
- Manages hazardous materials program operations, provides program oversight, and supports budget planning for future requirements.
