These roles support NASA's environmental compliance and planning efforts, manage environmental projects, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws, and communicate technical information to agency leadership, personnel, and the public to support informed and defensible environmental decisions.
- Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
- Support development of National Environmental Policy Act documents ensuring that all documents contain scientifically supported analysis/mitigation measures and are of high/professional quality and supportive of defensible decisions.
- Prepare technical documentation for special purpose environmental laws and regulations, such as those related to cultural resources, threatened and endangered species, noise, water quality and wetlands, and air quality as applicable.
- Define requirements, develop scope of work, project schedules and manage a variety of environmental projects, service contracts, and agreements.
- Provide support of environmental design reviews, compliance assistance, environmental checklist, stakeholder engagement, and National Environmental Policy Act actions with NASA Center as the lead or cooperating agency.
