Position Overview & Key Responsibilities

As a Recreation Aide, you’ll provide hands-on support throughout Hidden Creek Community Center. You’ll help keep the facility safe, clean, organized, and ready for programs while also interacting with community members and supporting recreation activities.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Support recreation programs and activities, including sports, arts, wellness and fitness, enrichment, and other community programs. 
  • Help prepare and reset spaces for classes, programs, and events, including moving furniture, supplies, and equipment. 
  • Set up, take down, clean, and sanitize frequently used recreation equipment, including indoor play structures, tumbling mats, and sports equipment. 
  • Monitor activities throughout the facility and help ensure participants follow safety and facility guidelines. 
  • Provide friendly customer service by greeting community members, answering questions, and offering engaging and accurate facility tours. 
  • Maintain attendance and daily count records accurately. 
  • Remove and dispose of trash and help maintain a clean, welcoming facility. 
  • Report building maintenance and repair needs to appropriate staff. 
  • Communicate questions, concerns, and program needs to supervisors and recreation staff. 
  • Perform other directly related duties as assigned. 

What You’ll Need to Succeed

You don't need to know everything on day one. We’re looking for dependable, welcoming team members who are comfortable learning new things and supporting a busy community recreation environment.

  • Friendly and comfortable interacting with people of different ages and abilities. 
  • Ability to multitask and shift between cleaning, facility support, customer service, and program needs. 
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and follow established procedures. 
  • Ability to follow safety and emergency procedures. 
  • Strong attention to detail, including completing counts and attendance records accurately. 
  • Ability to communicate respectfully with community members, coworkers, and supervisors. 
  • Interest in Parks & Recreation, community programs, fitness and wellness, or creating positive experiences for others.

Class Specifications | Recreation Aide 

Acceptable Experience & Training

  • Some high school education. 
  • Some experience in recreation, sports, arts and crafts, or a related area. 
  • OR equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Licenses & Certifications

  • May need certification for specific duties. 

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment. 
  • Early morning, late evening, and weekend work may be required based on facility and program needs. 
  • A minimum of one shift per week is required. 
  • Ability to work in a busy and sometimes noisy recreation environment, with reasonable accommodation as needed. 
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.

Bilingual Incentive Pay Available

Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, ASL, or any other language spoken by over 10% of the City residents as documented by the most recent U.S. Census, will receive a monthly 3% premium pay. The incentive is only paid on hours in paid status. Proficiency will be determined by a City-administered test.
