  • Serving as a Environmental Protection Specialist GS-0028-12/13 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located in the Office of the Associate Director for Training Ops (TOPS)Core Training Operations Directorate (TOPS/CTO) Office of Artesia Operations (TOPS/CTO/OAO) Artesia Administration Division (CTO/OAO/AAD). This position is physically located in Artesia, New Mexico (FLETC-Artesia). The primary purpose of this position is to manage Environmental and Safety programs, which require planning and oversight of programs. Typical duties include: Serves as an environmental coordinator. Responsible for planning and developing policy and procedures for the administration of a complex and large-scale environmental program. Assures the implementation of environmental protection policies and programs that embrace a range of subjects directly or indirectly concerned with the management of the welfare and protection of people, property and the environment. Conducts formal and informal environmental compliance audits/inspections, analyzes environmental data, and evaluates facilities and/or activities on a continuing basis to identify and resolve deficiencies and to improve compliance relative to applicable environmental laws, regulations and practices Research identifies and recommends actions to prevent or minimize wastes and/or pollution of the environment; plans and implements recommendations that are adopted, including identifying and meeting training needs and necessary procedural changes.
